THE PROGRAM

Get Into Rugby is a program launched by World Rugby to grow the game around the world.

Run in partnership with the regional associations, it introduces people globally to rugby and to the values of Integrity, Respect, Solidarity, Passion and Discipline that inspire millions to play this game.

Training management is laying the foundations for a healthy growth of the game in Africa.

A development success across Africa

Rugby Africa is very proud of its development program, which is proving very successful across the whole continent. Get Into Rugby is a major support for African unions, allowing them to grow in a progressive and sustainable way.

With more than 44% of the population under the age of 15, Africa is indisputably the youngest region in the world — so it is not too difficult to find lovers of the oval ball. Year after year our assessments grow more promising, and with the program firmly established in almost all of its unions, Rugby Africa is guaranteeing a bright future for rugby on the continent.

Conferences, North and South

Two Get Into Rugby conferences — North and South — are organized every year to improve the quality of the program, share experiences and identify the various challenges unions face.

“I also play referee”

Since October 2015, children can enjoy a program alongside Get Into Rugby: “I also play referee.” Today 26 unions take part, offering children the opportunity — if they wish — to referee the matches of their friends.

It is a way to help them understand and appreciate the difficult job of refereeing: 100% rugby values.
