Ivory Coast training

This sports weekend began with a First Aidtraining on Saturday. This course took place at the municipal high school of Attécoubé in Abidjan, economic capital of Ivory Coast. This first course was facilitated by the president of the union who is also a doctor and medical trainer : Elvis Tano. More than 13 trainers of first division's clubs had made the trip and participated in this workshop with a lot of enthusiasm.

On Sunday, the activities carried on inthe union’s offices where the educators were in for a refresher course after a long period of inactivity. A World Rugby training enabled 12 candidates to update their knowledge and be clear about what they have to doto train others with ease. This internship was led by Charles Yapo, Regional Development Officer, himself native of Ivory Coast and Siaka Traoré, training manager for theIvory Coast Rugby Union.

These initiatives mark the renewal of a beautiful story between Ivory Coast and rugby. Remember, many years ago already the Elephants were one of the first African nations to participate in aRugby World Cup in 1995. The passion is still alive and it is just a matter of rekindling the flame..

Along the same lines, Doctor Tano will fly to Tunis on March 8th for a Medical trainingand an Immediate Aidcourse. He will be accompanied by Adama Bakhoum, Brian Carlin, Imed Mrabet and Madani Fall as well as 10 trainees. Our medical trainers will aim at teaching the participants how to draw up an action plan in case of emergency, make a first assessment of a wounded player and bring the first aid techniques to save a life.
