Uganda ready for the Gold Cup

- Uganda Rugby Union : "Ugandan team has arrived well in Nairobi. There are a few new players added onto the team from last weekend. Former Captain Mathias Ochwo who was unwell in the first well is now fine and has traveled with the team. Some other players like experienced Centre Gerald Ssewankambo, scrumhalf Ivan Makmot and new players Michael Tamale and Santos Senteza have traveled too. There are 27 players in Nairobi and the final team to play Kenya will be named after the training session later today.

The clash between Uganda and Kenya was first played in the late 1920s and revived in 1958 and then annually in 1997 so the Elgon cup has local regional dominance written all over it. For it to double as Gold Cup even adds more hunger to both teams and we are sure it will be an exciting clash.

Having a French referee changes the dynamics to the tie as both teams will be unfamiliar to Northern Hemisphere style and the team that adopts quickest will have an edge.

It will be a fierce clash !"
